In which German municipality is Tesla’s Gigafactory 4, also called Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, located?

The story behind the answer

Tesla’s Gigafactory 4, also called Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg, is located in Grünheide, Germany. The factory is in the state of Brandenburg, southeast of Berlin.

Tesla selected the site for its European manufacturing complex in 2019. Construction proceeded rapidly, although environmental approvals and water-use concerns attracted public scrutiny. The plant officially opened in March 2022, when Tesla began delivering vehicles made there.

The facility initially focused on producing the Model Y and manufacturing battery systems. It was Tesla’s first large-scale vehicle factory in Europe and reduced the company’s dependence on importing cars from factories elsewhere.

Grünheide is the municipality, while Berlin-Brandenburg identifies the wider region and Brandenburg identifies the German state. These names are therefore related but are not interchangeable answers to the location question.
