Outer Banks Season 5 was reported to have filmed in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The historic coastal city became one of the international locations associated with production of the final season.
Dubrovnik is known for its medieval walls, Adriatic coastline, and historic architecture. Those features make it a useful filming location for a series that frequently moves its characters between beaches, ports, old buildings, and dangerous treasure-hunting sites.
The show’s production base has traditionally been in South Carolina, where Charleston often stands in for the fictional Outer Banks community. Earlier seasons also expanded beyond the United States, including Season 4 filming in Morocco. Dubrovnik therefore continues the series’ pattern of using international locations to broaden its adventure setting.
