Confessions II debuted at number two on the Aotearoa Top 40 Albums chart in New Zealand. That result placed Madonna’s album just below the chart leader in its opening week and gave the release a strong first appearance in the New Zealand market.
The Aotearoa Top 40 Albums chart is New Zealand’s national weekly album ranking, issued by Recorded Music New Zealand. Its modern name reflects the country’s Māori-language identity; older references may call it the New Zealand Albums Chart or the Official New Zealand Music Chart.
This question is easy to confuse with other international chart results because Confessions II performed differently from country to country. A number-two debut in New Zealand does not mean the album peaked at number two everywhere, nor does it identify the album’s position on a singles chart. The country is New Zealand, and the chart’s “Aotearoa” branding refers to that same national market.
