The 2021 UEFA Champions League final was played in Porto, Portugal. Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1–0 at the Estádio do Dragão on 29 May 2021.
Porto became the venue after UEFA relocated the final from Istanbul during the COVID-19 pandemic. Travel restrictions and the difficulty of allowing English supporters to attend in Turkey led UEFA to choose Portugal, which was then on the United Kingdom’s travel “green list.”
Kai Havertz scored the only goal shortly before half-time, converting Mason Mount’s pass. Chelsea defended their lead to win their second Champions League title, while Manchester City were appearing in their first European Cup final.
Istanbul is a common answer because the 2021 final was originally scheduled for Turkey, and Istanbul hosted the famous 2005 final. Lisbon is also associated with the pandemic-era Champions League because the 2020 final was moved there. But the 2021 match itself took place in Porto.
