In which city was production of the 2021 The Wonder Years pilot reported to take place?

Production of the 2021 The Wonder Years pilot was reported to take place in Atlanta, Georgia. ABC confirmed the pilot in January 2021, with Atlanta serving as its production location even though the story is set in Montgomery, Alabama.

The series follows Dean Williams, a Black middle-class boy growing up in Montgomery during the late 1960s. That distinction explains a likely source of confusion: Montgomery is the fictional story setting, while Atlanta was the real-world production city.

The reboot was developed by Saladin K. Patterson and executive-produced by Lee Daniels and Fred Savage, who also directed the pilot. It premiered on ABC on September 22, 2021, and ultimately ran for two seasons. Atlanta was therefore a filming and production answer, not the location depicted in the show.
