In which city is Rolex's headquarters located?
Answer
Geneva
Answer
Geneva
Rolex’s headquarters are located in Geneva, Switzerland.
The company’s Geneva base reflects Rolex’s transformation from a London-founded business into a major Swiss watch manufacturer. Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis established Wilsdorf & Davis in London in 1905, initially importing Swiss movements and fitting them into watch cases for the British market.
Rolex moved its base of operations to Geneva after World War I. Heavy taxes and export duties made the London arrangement increasingly difficult, while Geneva offered a stronger connection to Switzerland’s watchmaking infrastructure. In 1920, Wilsdorf registered Montres Rolex SA in Geneva; the company later became Rolex SA.
Geneva is also closely associated with the brand’s identity as a Swiss luxury watchmaker. It should not be confused with Basel, another important Swiss watch-industry city, or Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city and financial centre. Rolex’s headquarters are in Geneva, while the company operates manufacturing and other facilities elsewhere in Switzerland.
