Assassin's Creed Syndicate is primarily set in London.
The game takes place in 1868, during the Industrial Revolution and the Victorian era. Players explore a large version of London that includes districts such as Westminster, the City of London, Southwark, Lambeth, and Whitechapel.
Jacob and Evie Frye are the playable twin protagonists. They arrive in London to challenge Templar control and build an Assassin presence, while the city's factories, railways, criminal gangs, and expanding industries shape the missions and atmosphere.
Syndicate is sometimes confused with Assassin's Creed Unity because both games focus on a major European capital and feature urban architecture, crowds, and revolutionary social change. Unity is set in Paris during the French Revolution, whereas Syndicate moves forward nearly a century to Victorian London. The game also introduced a grappling-hook launcher and a drivable train used as a mobile base.
