In which city did Raising Cane’s open its first restaurant?

The story behind the answer

Raising Cane’s opened its first restaurant in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The chain was founded by Todd Graves and Craig Silvey, and its first location opened near Louisiana State University. Raising Cane’s built its identity around a deliberately narrow menu centered on chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, Texas toast and its signature sauce.

The company is named after Graves’s yellow Labrador retriever, Raising Cane. The name is therefore not a reference to a cooking method or to sugar cane.

Raising Cane’s is sometimes grouped with general fried-chicken chains, but its best-known product is the chicken finger rather than bone-in fried chicken.
