In which city did C.S. Lewis die in 1963?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis died in Oxford in 1963, at his home in Headington.

Lewis died on 22 November 1963, one week before his sixty-fifth birthday. He had spent much of his professional life in Oxford, first as a student and later as an academic and tutor at Magdalen College. Oxford therefore remained central to both his career and his friendships.

His death occurred on the same day that U.S. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated and that English writer Aldous Huxley died. The coincidence meant that Lewis’s death received less immediate international attention than it otherwise might have.

Lewis was buried in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church at Headington Quarry, Oxford. His grave is associated with the parish where he worshipped for many years, rather than with an Oxford college chapel.
