In which California city is Psyonix based?

The story behind the answer

Psyonix is based in San Diego, California. The studio was founded by Dave Hagewood in 2000, but its headquarters are now in San Diego.

The company began as a small team connected to Hagewood’s Internet-software business. After working on Unreal Engine projects and developing Supersonic Acrobatic Battle-Cars, Psyonix moved to San Diego in 2009. That location became the home base from which it developed Rocket League.

A common mix-up is confusing Psyonix’s headquarters with its founding location: the company was founded in Satellite Beach, Florida. It also spent time in North Carolina before relocating to California. Epic Games acquired Psyonix in 2019, but the studio remains associated with San Diego.
