In which building did the United States Semiquincentennial Commission hold its 2018 swearing-in?

The story behind the answer

The United States Semiquincentennial Commission held its 2018 swearing-in at Independence Hall.

The ceremony took place in Philadelphia on November 16, 2018, when the commission’s then-33 members were sworn in. The commissioners also convened their first organizing meeting there to begin planning the 250th-anniversary observance.

Independence Hall was a particularly symbolic location because the Second Continental Congress met there and adopted the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The Constitutional Convention also met in the building in 1787, producing the United States Constitution.

The building was formerly known as the Pennsylvania State House. It stands within Independence National Historical Park and is one of Philadelphia’s most important historic sites. Its association with both independence and constitutional government made it an appropriate setting for launching America250 planning.
