The first Tomorrowland festival was held in Boom, Belgium, in 2005.
Tomorrowland debuted on July 15, 2005, in De Schorre, a recreational area in the municipality of Boom. The town lies between Brussels and Antwerp, in the Belgian province of Antwerp.
The festival was created by the Belgian entertainment company ID&T Belgium and began as a relatively small electronic dance music event. Its elaborate stage designs, fantasy-themed branding, and international DJ lineup later helped it become one of the best-known electronic music festivals worldwide.
Boom is sometimes mistaken for Antwerp because the town is in Antwerp Province and is close to the city of Antwerp. The festival’s regular location, however, is De Schorre in Boom. Later editions also introduced Winter and international Tomorrowland-branded events.
