The 2013 Disney animated musical in which Queen Elsa sings “Let It Go” is Frozen.
The song appears when Elsa leaves Arendelle and creates an ice palace while embracing her magical powers. Idina Menzel provides Elsa’s singing voice in the original English version, and the song was written by married songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
Frozen was loosely inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s 1844 fairy tale “The Snow Queen,” but Disney reshaped the premise into a story about sisters Elsa and Anna. “Let It Go” became the film’s signature song and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. A frequent mix-up is confusing Elsa’s song with “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana or “When Will My Life Begin?” from Tangled; those songs belong to different Disney heroines and films.
The soundtrack included a separate end-credit version performed by Demi Lovato, while Menzel’s theatrical version is the one performed by Elsa in the story.
