In what year were SpaghettiOs introduced?
Answer
1965
Answer
1965
SpaghettiOs were introduced in 1965.
Campbell Soup Company launched the ring-shaped canned pasta under its Franco-American brand. Marketing manager Donald Goerke developed the product as a less messy way for children to eat spaghetti, helping turn a familiar dish into a spoon-friendly convenience food. The advertising slogan called it “the neat round spaghetti you can eat with a spoon.”
The ring shape was not the only idea considered during development. Other possible designs included cowboys, Indians, astronauts, stars, and sports-themed shapes. The circular pasta became the lasting identity of the product, and the “Uh-Oh! SpaghettiOs” jingle helped make the name memorable.
SpaghettiOs are served in tomato sauce and later appeared with additions such as meatballs and sliced franks. The trade name belongs to the Campbell brand, while similar products in other markets may be called spaghetti hoops, loops, or rings.
