The Ferrari 458 Italia was introduced in 2009.
Ferrari officially unveiled the 458 at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009. The car replaced the F430 and represented a major step in Ferrari’s mid-engine V8 line, combining a new design with technology influenced by the company’s Formula One experience.
The 458 Italia used a naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V8 from Ferrari’s F136 engine family. It produced 570 PS at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm of torque, with direct fuel injection—a first for Ferrari’s mid-engine road cars. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission was the only gearbox offered, so the mainstream 458 did not have a traditional manual option.
The year 2009 can be confused with later milestones. Production ran from 2009 to 2015, the 458 Spider arrived in 2011, and the track-focused 458 Speciale appeared in 2013. The 458 Italia itself, however, was introduced in 2009, before the range expanded with those derivatives.
In 2015, Ferrari replaced the 458 family with the turbocharged 488 GTB.
