The American eyewear brand Warby Parker was founded in 2010.
The company was established by Neil Blumenthal, Dave Gilboa, Andrew Hunt, and Jeffrey Raider. It began as a direct-to-consumer eyewear business, selling prescription glasses and sunglasses online while presenting itself as a lower-cost alternative to traditional optical retail.
Warby Parker became known for its home try-on program, which allowed customers to test selected frames before buying. The approach helped make online eyewear shopping more familiar to consumers and supported the company’s rapid growth.
The brand name combines two character names from Jack Kerouac’s journals. Warby Parker is sometimes described only as an online retailer, but it later developed physical stores as well as its digital business.
