Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was released in 1989.
The film is the third installment in the Indiana Jones series and follows archaeologist Indiana Jones as he searches for the Holy Grail. Harrison Ford stars as Indiana, while Sean Connery plays his father, Henry Jones Sr.
Steven Spielberg directed the film from a screenplay by Jeffrey Boam, with George Lucas serving as executive producer and story contributor. The movie was designed as a return to the more lighthearted adventure style associated with Raiders of the Lost Ark after the darker tone of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
The Last Crusade is sometimes confused with the series’ release order because its opening sequence depicts a teenage Indiana Jones in 1912, long before the main 1938 storyline. Its later theatrical successors were Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008 and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in 2023.
