Destiny’s Child’s debut studio album was released in 1998.
The self-titled album, Destiny’s Child, was issued on February 17, 1998, by Columbia Records. It introduced the group’s early R&B sound and included the single “No, No, No,” which became a major commercial success in the United States.
At the time, the group consisted of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LaTavia Roberson, and LeToya Luckett. The album reached number sixty-seven on the Billboard 200 and helped establish the group before its later international breakthrough.
The group had existed under earlier names, including Girl’s Tyme, before becoming Destiny’s Child. That history can cause confusion about the year: the group formed earlier, but its first studio album arrived in 1998.
