C.S. Lewis’s first Narnia book was published in 1950.
The book was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, released by Geoffrey Bles in London on 16 October 1950. It introduced readers to the fictional land of Narnia through the wardrobe discovered by the Pevensie children.
The publication order and the internal chronology of the Narnia stories are sometimes confused. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was the first Narnia book published, while The Magician’s Nephew is set earlier in Narnian history and was published later, in 1955. Lewis wrote seven Chronicles of Narnia books, which appeared between 1950 and 1956.
