Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag primarily begins its pirate-era story in 1715.
The game opens during the Golden Age of Piracy, when Edward Kenway operates in the Caribbean. Its historical world includes Nassau, Havana, Kingston, and extensive open seas, combining ship exploration with the series’ stealth and parkour systems.
The year 1715 places the opening near the end of the War of the Spanish Succession and before the later decline of Caribbean piracy. The campaign then moves through several years, so 1715 is the starting point rather than the date of every event.
Black Flag is often remembered chiefly for its ship combat, but it also continues the franchise’s Assassin-Templar storyline and includes a substantial modern-day plot. Its pirate setting is earlier than the American Revolution period used by Assassin’s Creed III.
