In what year did the first episode of House M.D. air?

The story behind the answer

The first episode of House M.D. aired in 2004. The series premiere, titled “Everybody Lies,” was broadcast on November 16, 2004, on Fox.

The premiere introduced Gregory House, his diagnostic team, and the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. Its title came from House’s recurring belief that patients often conceal information, whether deliberately or because they do not recognize which details matter medically.

House M.D. began as part of Fox’s scripted drama lineup and quickly developed an international audience. The show later ran for eight seasons, but its first broadcast year is distinct from its final year, 2012. Confusing the premiere with the pilot’s development or with the year the series ended produces the common alternatives.
