The Apple Watch Hermès collaboration debuted in 2015.
Apple and Hermès announced the partnership in September 2015, combining Apple’s smartwatch hardware with Hermès leather straps and specially branded watch faces. The collaboration first appeared with the Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch models of that generation.
The Hermès editions used handcrafted leather bands in styles associated with the fashion house, including single-tour and double-tour designs. They were sold through selected Apple and Hermès channels rather than being a completely separate smartwatch platform.
This partnership is distinct from ordinary third-party Apple Watch straps. Hermès editions include special branding and watch-face elements as well as the leather bands. The collaboration also helped connect traditional luxury leather goods with wearable technology, a category Apple had entered only the previous year.
