Taylor Swift’s “august” saw its daily streams rise by 277 percent in 2022.
The increase occurred during the song’s recurring August resurgence. By then, listeners had developed an annual habit of returning to the track at the start of its namesake month, turning a 2020 album song into a seasonal streaming event.
Billboard described “august” as a seasonal streaming perennial and compared its recurring pattern with Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The comparison reflects how calendar-based listening can revive an older song each year.
The figures from other years are easy to confuse. The song recorded a 39 percent U.S. streaming gain in August 2021, while the much larger 277 percent daily-stream increase belongs to 2022.
