Taylor Swift’s “august” saw its daily streams increase by 277% during the annual August revival in 2022.
The dramatic increase followed the song’s established pattern of returning to public attention each year as August begins. In 2021, its US streams had already recorded a 39% gain during the month, but the following year brought a much larger reported daily-stream increase.
Billboard described “august” as a seasonal streaming perennial, comparing its recurring calendar effect with Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The comparison highlights how a song can become tied to a particular season without being a traditional holiday recording.
The trend is linked to the song’s title, lyrics, and late-summer setting. It is also amplified by social-media posts, fan playlists, and renewed chart interest, turning an album track into an annual cultural ritual.
