Strikes in 2023 delayed filming of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3.
The production was initially expected to begin in 2023, but filming was postponed because of the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Both labor disputes affected television production across the United States and contributed to the delay before the show entered pre-production in early 2024.
The season eventually began filming on May 14, 2024. It then premiered on July 16, 2025, making the delay part of the show’s production timeline rather than part of its fictional story.
A common mix-up is answering 2024, because that is the year filming actually started. The strikes that caused the delay took place in 2023; 2024 was the production year.
