NOFX released the punk album Punk in Drublic in 1994.
Fat Wreck Chords issued Punk in Drublic on July 19, 1994. It was NOFX’s fifth studio album and became the California band’s best-known record, combining fast melodic punk with humorous, politically skeptical, and socially observant lyrics.
The album’s title is a pun on “drunk in public,” and its cover and songs reflect the band’s irreverent tone. Tracks such as “Linoleum,” “Don’t Call Me White,” and “Leave It Alone” helped make the record a major release during the 1990s expansion of punk’s audience.
Punk in Drublic is often grouped with the commercial success of mid-1990s punk albums, but it was released on an independent label rather than a major one. That distinction matters when comparing NOFX with bands such as Green Day and The Offspring, whose major-label records reached much larger mainstream charts.
