MTV first broadcast Jersey Shore in 2009. The reality series premiered on December 3, 2009, and followed a group of housemates spending a summer together in Seaside Heights, New Jersey.
The original cast included Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Sammi Giancola, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Vinny Guadagnino, and Angelina Pivarnick. Their shared home, nightlife, arguments, and friendships quickly became central parts of MTV’s late-2000s programming.
Jersey Shore became a major pop-culture phenomenon and influenced fashion, slang, and public perceptions of the New Jersey shore region. It ran for six seasons, ending in 2012. The show is distinct from Floribama Shore, which premiered later and moved the franchise concept to the Florida-Alabama Gulf Coast.
