Gilmore Girls moved from The WB to The CW in 2006. The CW was created through the merger of The WB and UPN, and Gilmore Girls became part of the new network’s schedule for its seventh season.
The series originally premiered on The WB in 2000 and remained there for its first six seasons. The seventh season began airing on The CW in September 2006 and concluded the show’s original run in May 2007.
The network change is sometimes mistaken for the end of the show. Gilmore Girls continued for a full seventh season after the transition, although creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was no longer the showrunner.
