In what year did Frasier premiere?

The story behind the answer

Frasier premiered in 1993. The original NBC sitcom debuted on September 16, 1993, with the episode “The Good Son,” introducing psychiatrist Frasier Crane as he began a new life in Seattle.

The series was a spin-off of Cheers, where Kelsey Grammer had played Frasier Crane for nine seasons. After Cheers ended in 1993, Frasier returned to his hometown and took a job hosting a call-in radio program at KACL. The new show shifted the character from Boston’s barroom setting to a Seattle family-and-workplace comedy.

The date is sometimes confused with 1994 because the first season continued across the 1993–94 television season. It also differs from the 2023 revival, which brought the character back nearly two decades after the original series ended. The original Frasier ran through May 2004.
