Fortnite Battle Royale reached 100 million players in 2018. Epic Games announced the milestone in June, less than a year after the mode launched as a free-to-play game in September 2017.
The growth was exceptionally fast. Fortnite passed 10 million players within two weeks of release and exceeded 45 million by March 2018. Soon after reaching 100 million, Epic reported more than 125 million players in June. Those figures counted registered players, not people playing simultaneously.
The milestone is sometimes confused with later totals. Fortnite passed 200 million registered players by November 2018, reached 250 million in March 2019, and exceeded 350 million by May 2020. The game’s cross-platform availability, free entry price, cartoon art style, and frequent seasonal updates helped drive that expansion.
