In what year did Elon Musk found SpaceX?
Answer
2002
Answer
2002
Elon Musk founded SpaceX in 2002.
The company’s full name is Space Exploration Technologies Corp., although it is commonly known as SpaceX. Musk established it with the goal of reducing the cost of spaceflight and eventually enabling human expansion beyond Earth.
SpaceX initially focused on developing the Falcon 1 rocket. Its first three launches failed, but the company achieved orbit on its fourth Falcon 1 launch in September 2008. That success helped SpaceX secure a NASA Commercial Resupply Services contract.
SpaceX later developed the Falcon 9 rocket, Dragon spacecraft, and Starlink satellite network. Its reusable-launch program made rocket landings and the repeated use of orbital-class boosters central features of modern commercial spaceflight.
