C.S. Lewis died in 1963, shortly before his 65th birthday.
Lewis died on 22 November 1963 at his home, The Kilns, near Oxford. He had been born on 29 November 1898, so he was 64 years old at the time of his death. The date also coincided with the deaths of John F. Kennedy and Aldous Huxley, an unusual historical coincidence often mentioned in biographies.
His final years followed the death of his wife, Joy Davidman, in 1960. Lewis continued writing and remained active in scholarship despite declining health. His published legacy includes fiction, literary criticism, apologetics, sermons, letters, and memoir.
Lewis was buried in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church, Headington Quarry, Oxford. His grave is now visited by readers interested in both his literary and Christian work.
