In what year did Amar’e Stoudemire first make the NBA All-Star team?

The story behind the answer

Amar’e Stoudemire first made the NBA All-Star team in 2005.

Stoudemire was selected as an NBA All-Star during his third NBA season, when he was a key forward-center for the Phoenix Suns. His athletic finishing, pick-and-roll play, and partnership with point guard Steve Nash made him central to Phoenix’s fast-paced attack.

The 2004–05 season was especially important for the Suns. Phoenix won 62 regular-season games and reached the Western Conference Finals, while Stoudemire averaged more than 26 points per game during the regular season.

Stoudemire had already won the NBA Rookie of the Year award in 2003, but that accomplishment did not make him an All-Star immediately. His first All-Star selection came in 2005, and he went on to earn six All-Star selections in his career.
