In what U.S. city did the band Hinder get its start?
Answer
Oklahoma City
Answer
Oklahoma City
Hinder got its start in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
The rock band formed in 2001 after singer Austin Winkler met drummer Cody Hanson and guitarist Joe Garvey at a college party. The three musicians soon began working together and built an audience in Oklahoma City, including performances at the local Blue Note club. Bassist Cole Parker later joined during the group’s early recording period.
Hinder’s early local success led to the independent EP Far from Close in 2003. The band then signed with Universal Republic and released its major-label debut, Extreme Behavior, in 2005. That album produced “Lips of an Angel,” which became Hinder’s best-known hit and reached No. 1 on several music charts.
Oklahoma City is sometimes overlooked because Hinder became nationally associated with post-grunge and hard rock during the mid-2000s. However, the group’s official origin is Oklahoma City, where its founding members first connected and developed its sound.
