Paris was selected by the International Olympic Committee in 2017, and the Games marked the city’s third time hosting the Summer Olympics, after 1900 and 1924. Several events were held outside the city, including football matches in other French locations and surfing in Teahupo’o, French Polynesia, but the Olympics are conventionally identified with Paris.
Biles made a major comeback in Paris after stepping away from much of the Tokyo program because of the twisties. She helped the U.S. win team gold, then won individual all-around and vault gold medals. She also earned silver on floor exercise and became one of the most decorated Olympic gymnasts in history. A common mix-up is confusing Paris 2024 with Tokyo 2020, which was postponed and held in 2021.
