In Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, which actor voices Mr. Fox?

George Clooney voices Mr. Fox in Wes Anderson’s Fantastic Mr. Fox.

The 2009 stop-motion film adapts Roald Dahl’s 1970 children’s novel about a clever fox whose raids on three farmers lead to a wider animal uprising. Anderson wrote the screenplay with Noah Baumbach and gave the production a deliberately handmade visual style, including visible fur, miniature sets, and carefully controlled replacement animation.

Clooney’s performance is central to the film’s dry, theatrical humor. Meryl Streep voices Mrs. Fox, while Jason Schwartzman plays their son Ash and Bill Murray voices Badger. The cast also includes Willem Dafoe, Michael Gambon, Owen Wilson, and Anderson regular Adrien Brody.

A common mix-up is confusing Clooney’s role here with Bill Murray’s many Anderson parts. Murray does appear in Fantastic Mr. Fox, but he voices Badger, Mr. Fox’s lawyer and friend—not the title character.
