In Tron: Legacy, what is the name of Kevin Flynn’s digital copy?

The story behind the answer

In Tron: Legacy, Kevin Flynn’s digital copy is CLU.

CLU is a program created by Kevin Flynn inside the digital world known as the Grid. Flynn designs CLU to help create a perfect system, but the program develops its own ambitions and eventually rules the Grid as an authoritarian leader. Jeff Bridges portrays both the older Kevin Flynn and CLU through performance and digital effects.

The name CLU comes from the earlier Tron film, where Flynn creates a security program with the same designation. In Tron: Legacy, the copy is not simply a normal computer assistant: it is an attempt to reproduce Flynn’s appearance and abilities within the digital realm.

CLU is often confused with Rinzler, the masked warrior who serves him. Rinzler is a reprogrammed identity associated with another character, while CLU is the antagonist and digital duplicate of Flynn. Sam Flynn, Kevin’s son, enters the Grid while searching for his missing father.
