In Tron (1982), which actor plays software developer and arcade owner Kevin Flynn?

The story behind the answer

Jeff Bridges plays software developer and arcade owner Kevin Flynn in Tron (1982).

Kevin Flynn is a former employee of the computer company ENCOM who runs an arcade after losing credit for several video games. When he attempts to access ENCOM's system, a laser-based technology digitizes him and transports him into the computer world. There he encounters programs that resemble the people who created them.

Bridges plays both Flynn and his program counterpart, Clu. This dual role is central to the film's visual and narrative concept: the computer world turns software identities into characters with bodies, uniforms, and personal conflicts. Flynn eventually works with Tron and other programs against the Master Control Program.

Tron was released by Walt Disney Productions in 1982 and directed by Steven Lisberger. Bruce Boxleitner plays both Alan Bradley and the security program Tron, so he is often confused with Bridges in questions about the film's digital characters. Flynn is the human creator drawn into the system.
