In Transformers (2007), what is the name of the yellow Autobot who becomes Sam Witwicky’s car?

The story behind the answer

In Transformers (2007), the yellow Autobot who becomes Sam Witwicky’s car is Bumblebee.

Bumblebee arrives on Earth in the form of a worn yellow 1977 Chevrolet Camaro and forms a bond with teenager Sam Witwicky. After Sam purchases the car, Bumblebee reveals that he is a transforming alien robot and helps protect Sam from the Decepticons.

The film updates Bumblebee’s appearance during the story: he scans a newer 2007 Camaro, giving the character his familiar modern look. Although he is an Autobot warrior, the movie presents him as a loyal companion who communicates through radio clips because his voice processor is damaged.

Bumblebee was already a major character in the Transformers toy and animated universes before the live-action film. The 2007 movie also established him as a central screen character, later leading the 2018 spin-off Bumblebee.
