The creator of the One Ring in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings is Sauron.
Sauron is a powerful being who serves as the main antagonist of The Lord of the Rings. He creates the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom, intending to control the other Rings of Power and dominate their bearers.
The Ring’s destruction requires it to be returned to the same volcanic fire where it was made. This explains why the quest leads Frodo and Sam across Middle-earth to Mordor rather than to a merely distant hiding place.
Sauron is sometimes confused with Morgoth, the earlier and more powerful evil figure in Tolkien’s mythology. Sauron originally served Morgoth, but later established his own dominion. Saruman, meanwhile, is a wizard who becomes Sauron’s ally but is not the Ring’s maker.
