Peter Jones was the Dragon's Den investor who founded Phones International Group.
Phones International Group was established by Jones in 1998 as a telecommunications business. The company became part of his wider entrepreneurial career, which included interests in technology, communications, retail, and consumer brands. His experience in these sectors became an important part of his reputation on Dragon's Den.
Jones was one of the original Dragons when the British series launched. He has remained one of the programme's longest-serving investors and is known for scrutinising sales, margins, ownership percentages, and the route to scale before making an offer.
Phones International Group should not be confused with Carphone Warehouse, another prominent name in British mobile-phone retail. The former is the company associated with Jones's founding history, while the latter was founded by Charles Dunstone and Julian Hsu.
