In “The Pirate Fairy,” Zarina becomes captain of a pirate ship because she can make it fly. Her knowledge of pixie dust gives the pirates a way to transform an ordinary ship into a flying vessel.
Zarina begins the film as a dust-keeper fairy in Pixie Hollow. She experiments with different colors and properties of pixie dust, eventually discovering how unusual mixtures can produce remarkable effects. After leaving Pixie Hollow, she encounters pirates who see her knowledge as the key to making their ship airborne.
The pirates promise Zarina a place where her abilities are valued, and she agrees to help them. Their plan depends on creating golden pixie dust, which can be sprinkled over the ship. The flying vessel would let them travel far beyond ordinary seas and raid places they could not otherwise reach.
The story later reveals that the pirates are exploiting Zarina’s expertise. James, the cabin boy who becomes Captain Hook, betrays her after the ship gains the ability to fly. The flying ship also connects the film to Peter Pan mythology, while Zarina’s scientific curiosity and pixie-dust experiments drive the adventure.
