In the live-action Transformers films, Bumblebee’s eyes are blue.
The blue eyes are part of Bumblebee’s visual identity across the live-action film designs. They glow against his yellow-and-black armor, helping the audience read his expressions even though he is a massive mechanical character rather than a human actor. The bright eye color also reinforces the heroic Autobot aesthetic used for Bumblebee on screen.
Bumblebee’s live-action appearance differs substantially from his original Generation 1 incarnation. In the classic cartoon and toy line, he is associated with a small yellow Volkswagen Beetle. The 2007 film instead introduced him primarily as a yellow Chevrolet Camaro, while the 2018 film shows earlier vehicle forms, including a Volkswagen Beetle and a 1942 Willys MB-inspired Jeep.
Viewers sometimes confuse the blue glow of Bumblebee’s optics with the yellow of his armor, or with the red and yellow eyes commonly associated with other Transformers factions and characters. His eye color is separate from his vehicle paint: regardless of whether he appears as a Beetle, Jeep, or Camaro, the live-action Bumblebee is identified by blue eyes.
