In "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", who are the four Pevensie children?

The story behind the answer

In “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” the four Pevensie children are Peter, Edmund, Susan, and Lucy.

The siblings are evacuated from London during World War II and sent to stay with Professor Kirke in the English countryside. Lucy discovers that an old wardrobe opens into Narnia, a magical land trapped in winter under the White Witch’s rule. Edmund follows her and later betrays the others, but all four eventually enter Narnia together.

The children fulfill a prophecy involving two sons of Adam and two daughters of Eve. After helping Aslan defeat the White Witch, they are crowned rulers: Peter becomes King Peter the Magnificent, Susan becomes Queen Susan the Gentle, Edmund becomes King Edmund the Just, and Lucy becomes Queen Lucy the Valiant.

A common mix-up is assuming Lucy is the eldest because she is the first to discover Narnia. She is actually the youngest; Peter is the eldest, followed by Susan and Edmund.
