In "The Lion King", what is the name of Simba's mother?

The story behind the answer

In “The Lion King,” Simba’s mother is Sarabi. She is the queen of the Pride Lands, Mufasa’s mate, and the leader of the lioness hunting party.

Sarabi is present at the opening of the 1994 animated film when Rafiki presents newborn Simba to the animals gathered at Pride Rock. After Mufasa’s death and Simba’s presumed death, Scar takes the throne, but Sarabi remains a principled figure who resists his rule and refuses to accept the poor conditions he creates for the pride.

A common mix-up is Sarafina, who is Nala’s mother—not Simba’s. Nala later becomes Simba’s mate, making Sarafina Simba’s mother-in-law. Another related point is that Mufasa is Simba’s father, while Scar is Mufasa’s brother and Simba’s uncle.

Sarabi also appears in Disney’s 2019 photorealistic remake, voiced by Alfre Woodard. The prequel film “Mufasa: The Lion King” expands her earlier history and portrays her as a lioness who eventually becomes Simba’s mother and the queen of the Pride Lands.
