In the Harry Potter book series, what magical creature is Buckbeak?
Answer
Hippogriff
Answer
Hippogriff
Buckbeak is a hippogriff in the Harry Potter book series.
Hippogriffs have the front parts of eagles and the hind parts of horses. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Rubeus Hagrid introduces Buckbeak and other hippogriffs during a Care of Magical Creatures lesson. Students must bow respectfully before approaching one, because the creature can attack anyone who behaves arrogantly.
Draco Malfoy insults Buckbeak and is injured when the hippogriff strikes him. Although the Ministry of Magic orders Buckbeak’s execution, Harry and Hermione use the Time-Turner to rescue him. Buckbeak is later renamed Witherwings and becomes associated with Sirius Black. A thestral is a different winged creature, while a basilisk is a giant serpent and a grindylow is a water demon.
