In The Grand Budapest Hotel, what job does M. Gustave hold?
Answer
Hotel concierge
Answer
Hotel concierge
M. Gustave is a hotel concierge in Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Ralph Fiennes plays Monsieur Gustave H., the celebrated concierge of the fictional Grand Budapest Hotel. He is known for his polished manners, elaborate routines, and close relationships with wealthy female guests. When one of those guests dies and leaves him a valuable painting, Gustave becomes entangled in an inheritance dispute.
The film also follows Gustave’s friendship with Zero Moustafa, played as a young man by Tony Revolori. Zero begins work at the hotel as a lobby boy and becomes Gustave’s trusted assistant. Their relationship provides the story’s emotional center as they face arrests, escapes, and political upheaval.
The Grand Budapest Hotel moves between several time periods and uses different aspect ratios to distinguish them. Its fictional setting, the Republic of Zubrowka, draws on Central European traditions without representing one real country. The film was released in 2014 and became one of Anderson’s most commercially successful works.
