In The Godfather Part II, who kills Don Ciccio in Sicily?

The story behind the answer

Vito Corleone kills Don Ciccio in Sicily in The Godfather Part II.

Don Ciccio is the local Sicilian crime boss responsible for the deaths of Vito’s father, older brother, and mother. Vito escapes Sicily as a child, travels to the United States, and eventually returns as an adult to confront the man who destroyed his family.

During the visit, Vito initially presents himself respectfully and identifies his family name. He then stabs Don Ciccio in the stomach, avenging the murders and symbolically ending the old power structure that had ruled his hometown.

This scene is part of the film’s historical storyline, while Michael’s parallel plot takes place decades later. It is separate from Vito’s killing of Don Fanucci in New York, another act that helps establish his criminal reputation.
