In the First Continental Congress, which city hosted the delegates' 1774 meeting remembered by America250?

The story behind the answer

The First Continental Congress met in Philadelphia in 1774.

Delegates from 12 of the 13 American colonies gathered at Carpenters' Hall from September 5 to October 26, 1774. Georgia did not send delegates. The meeting was organized in response to British measures known as the Intolerable Acts, imposed after the Boston Tea Party.

The gathering was an important step toward colonial cooperation, although many delegates still hoped to reconcile with Great Britain. Congress adopted the Continental Association, which called for a boycott of British goods, and sent a petition to King George III. When those efforts failed and fighting began in 1775, the Second Continental Congress also met in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is sometimes confused with New York or Boston because all three cities played major roles in the American Revolution. The Stamp Act Congress, an earlier gathering in 1765, met in New York City, while the First Continental Congress used Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia.
