In the film WALL-E, the probe robot that WALL-E meets on Earth is named EVE.
EVE is an advanced Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator sent to Earth by the starliner Axiom. Her mission is to search for evidence that the planet has become suitable for human life again. She discovers a living plant collected by WALL-E, which becomes central to the film’s story.
EVE differs sharply from WALL-E in design and behavior. She is sleek, fast, heavily armed, and equipped with sophisticated scanning technology, while WALL-E is an old waste-compacting machine that has developed curiosity and affection.
EVE is sometimes confused with AUTO, the Axiom’s autopilot system, or M-O, a small cleaning robot. Those characters have different functions and are separate machines within the film’s fictional robotics system.
